When the government announced the roadmap for lifting the UK out of lockdown restrictions back in February, it seemed like normality was finally on the horizon. With a date of 21 June set to remove all limits on social contact, there was optimism that summer festivals would go ahead so we, like many other festivals announced our intention to go ahead.

We have a year-round planning cycle working closely with partner agencies but, despite the huge success of the vaccine rollout, and the optimism from ministers about a 'great British summer', there is currently no guidance on social distancing or covid status certificates and testing for large scale events. We cannot risk the health and wellbeing of Pride visitors, residents and the hundreds of staff who work at the event sites to keep everyone safe so are heartbroken to have to cancel for a second year.
